What Students Will Learn
The National Diploma (ND) Nursing Programme is designed to prepare competent, skilled, and versatile nursing professionals equipped with the knowledge and practical abilities needed to deliver safe, effective, and affordable healthcare services. Graduates are trained to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills in meeting the health needs of individuals, families, and communities across all levels of care.
Foundational Courses
Students begin with core subjects that build a strong scientific and professional foundation for nursing practice. These include:
- Applied Chemistry
- Applied physics
- Human Physiology
- Medical Microbiology
- Foundation of Nursing / Emergency Car
- Introduction To Sociology
These courses help students develop a clear understanding of the biological, psychological, and social factors that influence patient health and overall care delivery.
The ND Programme is structured to runs for two (2) years
During this period, students participate in structured classroom lectures, laboratory sessions, and supervised clinical placements. This combination ensures that theoretical learning is reinforced through real-life healthcare practice.

General studies/ education
Students begin with essential subjects that provide the scientific base for healthcare practice. These include:

Professional Courses
A major component of the programme is practical training in maternity care environments. Students gain hands-on experience in areas such as:
- Human Anathomy II
- Human Physioology II
- Pharmacology I
- Primary Health Care (PHC)
- Foundation of Nursing II
Applicants must possess five (5) credit passes in the following subjects:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
The results must be obtained from any of the following examination bodies:
- WAEC
- NECO
- NABTEB
A maximum of two sittings is allowed.
Candidates must be at least 17 years old at the time of application.
Applicants will be required to sit for a college entrance examination, which typically covers:
- English Language
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
Candidates who pass the entrance examination may be invited for an interview to assess their motivation, communication skills, and readiness for healthcare training.
